The songs included on my new Film Score Project album where mostly recorded during the pandemic, as a means of therapy and to present to you hopefully some contemplative musical soundscapes that are relaxing and bring peaceful meditation.
The title of the album is a play on a phrase from my daughter’s first favorite TV program as an infant. The show was called “The Notekins” and whenever it came on, she smiled and her face lit up and she would move and coo to the music. The little characters on the program represented the notes of the major scale, (Their names were based on solfege) and they used music to overcome obstacles and move forward on their journey to visit their musical friends.
So sometimes on the show, “slow music” worked and I think that is a good analogy for the power of music to overcome obstacles and ease tension and fear, so we can focus, relax and move forward on a kind, peaceful and positive journey, no matter what the pace.
It is a sequel album too, because the first one represented a specific place and time in my life (the time leading up to my daughter’s birth and her first months of life with all the joy that time brought). Slowmusicworks II, represents finding solace through music in a time, where the world is struggling to find joy, peace, some sense of normalcy and health.
However, must remember that happiness and joy is all around us in our family and friends, our hope, our faith and music and art.
We must embrace this joy, despite any sick storms of adversity. I pray you stay well and hope this music provides some solace during this time.

About the songs:
The focus of the compositions was to bring more lighter and melodic tones and drones. Also, the use of some new effects and instruments was also a goal. This is my first ambient album to include brass, which is represented in “Warm Whales”, by the tuba and trombone. My lovely wife Melody named that track after listening to it for the first time.
There is subtle percussion on “New Sunrise”, and also my it represents my first ambient guitar piece in awhile, which also includes my first recorded use of the Ebow , the song is called “Star Tune”, and it is dedicated to my beautiful daughter Stella.
